Project Reflection
Project Title: Renaissance Ball Project
Class: CD Date: June 6, 2008
PURPOSE: In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.
The purpose of this project was to learn about a person from the Renaissance. My person was Michelangelo Buonarroti. In order to learn about Michelangelo Buonarroti, I had to research about Michelangelo and write a 3 to 5 page biography about him with a bibliography. We also performed the Pavan which is a dance from the Renaissance. We also had to get 10 signatures from people that learned about our Renaissance person.
WHAT I LEARNED
In this section, tell what information or skills you learned or improved.
I learned about Michelangelo Buonarroti and what he created. I learned that he is the sculptor of the statue of David. I also learned that he is the painter of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I learned about his childhoods and his many creations. I also learned about other people during the Renaissance Ball. I also learned that Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci are rivals.
REFLECTION
In this section, reflect on your experience. Did you like the project? Why or why not? How did you do? What would you do differently next time?
I feel like I could have done better on this project because I know I could have added a lot more information in my biography and my power point. Next time, I would choose a person that I know a lot about so I can finish stuff early and have aloot more extra time to work on my other projects.
ARTIFACTS
You should have at least one artifact from each project on your DP. What document, picture, or link will you have for this project?
I will have my biography and my power point.

Romek Post #3
1. I was surprised that he was yelling at us but after the whole thing I realized why he was yelling. The story was very sad because some of his years in his life was wasted by the holocaust. His story about the holocaust was very strong and had a lot of emotion in it.
2. What David had to do while he was with the Russian partisans was that he had to take the bolts out of the rails so that the train carrying the ammunition would crash so the Russian partisans can use it. David was treated kindly by the Russian partisans while he was them. Romek was proud of David because you have to have courage to do mess with Nazis trains. Also that he was doing something to help the Jews survive and fight against the Nazis.
3. I think that the Gestapos spared his life because David was very young and he would never had known anything about the plans. The Gestapos could have used them as a messenger to the other Jews and tell them to not do anything to offend the Nazis. Also that the Gestapos could have thought that he would die from starvation.

Because of Romek Post#1
#1 The thing I find intersting is that the Nazis made them dig up their own graves and then shoot them. I think it is interesting because they can just shoot them. But it is kind of clever in an evil way because if they kill them first where will they put the dead bodies?
#2a David Fabers family seems like the family that almost literally does everything together. They also seem like the family that have doesn't have any one they hate in it.
#2b I think he remebers every last detail because it was prbably the most horrifying thing that happened in his life. Or that he is just very smart and can remeber everything.
#3 It shows how much courage David has for going outside his house and it shows how much he cares about his father. I think that he is brave because he knew the consequences he would get into if the Nazis found him.

Aztec Mural Reflection
Name: JP Aquino
Project Reflection
Project Title: Aztec Mural Project
Letter: D
Dates: 3/31/08—5/5/08
PURPOSE
The purpose of this project was to learn about the Aztecs. We also had to study the roles of people in Aztec society. We also had to learn their family life, war-fare, family life, slavery, religious beliefs and practice. In order to learn about the Aztec murals, we had to go to Chicano park and answer questions that were on our paper.
WHAT I LEARNED
I learned about the Aztecs lifestyles and the Aztec society ranks. For example starting from the top is the Emporer then nobility then priests then warriors then merchants then commoners then peasants and lastly slaves. I also learned that they have strict rules and that if you play a wrong note in music they might kill or execute you.
REFLECTION
I enjoyed this project because it ended quickly and we were allowed to paint most of the time. I feel like I could have done better on this project because we were trying not to paint over the sun or the pyramid. Next time, I would paint slowly and carefully using a small brush so I can't paint over anything.
WORK HABITS
I was responsible for getting the tarp or butcher paper when we paint. I also traced and painted the people that were on the pyramid and the pyramid. I also helped paint the sun god and the sky. I had difficulty trying not to make a mess when I paint so the mural won't look messy.
ARTIFACTS
The document I will have will be the artist statement.

Final Group Reading Post
Title: Monster
Author: Walter Dean Myers
Total Pages: 120
Date: April 22, 2008
#1 This book is unique because its about trial and that there are not many books about a trial. There mostly on a t.v show instead of a book. The way its written is also unique because in a normal fiction book they just cram in the words into paragraphs.
#2 The character I dislike the most is Osvaldo because he was doing everything he can to not go to jail and he was pinning everything on everyone except from him. Some books or games I like the bad guy because they're cool and what they do ws awesome. In this book hes like this teenage punk whos doing everything to not get in jail.
#3 Were there a moment in the book where you think this was going to happen but something else did? If so, what was that moment?

Group Reading Post #2
Title: Monster
Author: Walter Dean Myers
Pages: 77-157
Date: April 11, 2008
1# I am almost convinced that Steve Harmon is innocent because there is nothing in the book that is making him guilty. Steve Harmon's life looks real miserable to me while hes on trial because he KNOWS hes innocent but he also knows that his family members KNOW he is guilty. It also sounds miserable in the book because he was cleaning the floors with 4 or 5 other guys and the floor was bubbling with dirt with foul smells. He was also about to throw up and the guard says if he throws up, the more he will have to clean up.
#2 I still think that this book is confusing because sometimes there are flashbacks that I think didn't end yet. It was also confusing for me to tell if it was the present or one of their flashback during court. I also don't get why there are pictures of him showing up occasionally in the book.
#3 Why do you think that person gave Steve Harmon a bible with a marked off phrase that says " The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."?

Group Reading Post #1
Title: Monster
Author: Walter Dean Myers
Pages:0-77 pages
Date: April 4, 2008
#1 Steve Harmon is going to jail for being involved with a robbery at a store and for assistant murder for the store owner. He was writing down everything that was happening for a movie. That is why we are reading the book like were seeing through his eyes and listening through his ears.
#2 My main thoughts while reading this book is how confusing it really is because it was meant to be a movie. But for the book its like they just took the script and published it into a book. It was very confusing to read because most of the talking wasn't in "" so I didn't know if they were talking or if they were moving. Im also no familiar reading types of books like these because most books I enjoy reading are fiction books because they have more action and adventure.
#3 How do you think he was able to write all this down while everyone was talking?

Project Relfection
Name: JP Aquino
Project Reflection: Post on your Blog
Project Title: Moral Courage Website
Class: Humanities
Date:3-14-08
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to learn about moral courage and learn about a subject that involves moral courage. In order to learn about that subject we had to take down notes and include sources. We also had to learn to not plagiarize so we don't get disqualified from the contest and to not get an F.
What I learned
I learned how to not plagiarize and to site sources on easybib. I learned how to work on flash when I absolutely have no experience on flash. I learned how to stay on task but I still need improvement on staying on task. I also learned how to think fast because people usually waste their time looking it up on the Internet.
REFLECTION
I enjoyed this project because my friends were in my group and I didn't goof off as much as i use to. I feel like I could have done better because I spent most of my time researching because I didn't know anything about that subject my group gave me.
ARTIFACTS
You should have at least one artifact from each project on your DP. What document, picture, or link will you have for this project?
I have all the flash and tables I made.

Weekly Reading Response #3
Title: Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment
Author: James Patterson
Time: 2 hours
Response:
While Angel, Nudge, and Fang were flying to the "School" back at home the Gasman and Iggy were not happy. The Gasman and Iggy were very angry. They were mostly angry at the "Erasers" for stealing Angel and for making Max leave them behind to save Angel. So they thought of dangerous and mischievous plans for the "Erasers". The Gasman and Iggy thought that the "Erasers" had made a camp nearby they're house. They flew around and saw the "Erasers" camp in the forest. So they created a huge bomb that they called Big Boy. The traps were set up and the Gasman and Iggy went to sleep and see what damage and destruction they caused. They woke up and their traps had not been set off yet. As they were looking at their traps they found a hummer coming up from the horizon. The Gasman was very excited as he saw that the hummer was going straight to their oil trap. The hummer went on the oil and violently spun around until the hummer went airborne. Then it landed upside down. The Gasman cheered while Iggy was asking him questions of what happened. The gasman descriped and he saw that the "Erasers" had survived. Then the Gasman and Iggy stared to fly away and flew to their secret clubhouse deep in the forest. They were just sitting there waiting for the "Erasers" to leave. They heard a sound and thought it was just a small animal. Until they heard a deep and deadly voice telling them to come out. Then one "Eraser" jumped in from the window. Iggy had planted the Big Boy and started the timer. The "Erasers" didn't know that it was a bomb. Iggy yelled out the signal and they both flew straight up. The "Eraser" grabbed the Gasmans leg while Iggy was flying away unaware that the Gasman was caught. The Gasman wiggled and kicked his way out of the "Erasers" grip. Then as the Gasman was flying closer to Iggy the Big Boy blew up and their secret clubhouse blew up. The Gasman cheered and even though Iggy couldn't see, he had an evil smile of happiness on his face.
While Max, Nudge, and Fang were flying to the "School" Max got sidetracked because she saw a girl in trouble while she was flying. She flew down there to help out. There were 4 boys picking on the little girl while Max came out of nowhere and started to beat up the 4 boys. Then one took out his gun and started to aim at Max. Max demanded the girl to run away where she will be safe. Max started to run away into a nearby forest. Her mutant powers gave her the ability to give her more distance away from her and the 13 year old boys with guns. She heard the gun fire and a nearby tree got shot. 2 or 3 more shots came and one actually hit sam in the shoulder. She tripped and fell into a bush where she waitied in the shadows waiting for the boys to pass her. She found a cabin where the girl she saved was living in. She got her mom to heal her wounds and her mom had found Maxs wing. Max suddenly knew what Fang would have said if he found out. Also if Max let Fang find out, she is in huge trouble.

Weekly Reading Response #2
Title: Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment
Author: James Patterson
Response:
What happened so far is that the "Erasers" has kidnapped Angel(the 6 year old kid with the "mutant" powers) Max was really close to getting back Angel but her old friend named Ari who was eleven has been turned to an "Eraser" Max had a chance of getting Angel but Ari had a gun and it was pointed right at Max's face. So Max had the choice of not letting go and let her face get pelted by bullets or let go and have another chance of chasing them. Wisely she let go and flew home. She was thinking of a plan of how to get back Angel. So they left but left behind the Gasman and Iggy. They did have good reasons of leaving them behind. 1 is that the Gasman is too young. 2 is that Iggy is blind and 3 is just in case Angel had escaped the "Erasers" and fled back home. Now Max, Nudge, and Fang are off flying to the place they hated the most, "School" The "School" couldn't even be placed in a better location, Death Valley. Right next to Badwater Basin. But back at home is not that boring. Iggy and Gasman are protesting of why they didn't get to go. Gasman was upset because he got left behind and wasn't even able to save his own sister. Iggy was upset because he was just a couple months younger than Max and he thought that he can handle on his own just because he's blind. At the "School" the "whitecoats" ( whitecoats are the people that Max and the others called when they were still back at the "School" Angel could read minds, so she can hear what the "whitecoats" were thinking. She heard one even say, "Oh, yes! Man, when I section her brain..." The "whitecoats" were making her run on a treadmill for hours and to analyze her heart and respiratory rate. Whenever she stops running she get zapped multiple times with a tazer.
Thats all for know, and Im pretty sure i spelt tazer wrong.

Weekly Reading Response

Title: Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment
Author: James Patterson
Time: 1 hour
Response:
In the beginning there are six kids that have been "genetically enhanced". There names are Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel. There is a place named "School" where the six kids grew up and gained their new powers. But one day they escaped. There are "Erasers" who want to destroy the six kids. The Erasers are part human part wolf, there main goal is to destroy the six kids and prevent the world from ever knowing they(the six kids) exist. The six kids got away from the "School" but the "Erasers" are still trying to get them. But for now the six kids are hiding in their cozy home, waiting.

I guess I want to be in battle school because of the battle rooms.
2. Why did you thnk the government wanted Ender parents to hve 3 kids?
I think they wanted 3 because there first one turned out so great that the government wanted 2 more.
3. Would you feel like you were missing something if you had your monitor for a long time and then your monitor just disappears?
I don't think that I would be missing something. But It might feel weird that you KNOW somethings missing but you don't know what it is.

Bamboo Grove Final Post
#1 How did you respond to the ending of the story? I thought the ending was not that good because it just ended right when Yoko finds Hideyo. It didn't even actually say if Ko saw Hideyo. When we were reading in the class, I thought there was more to it than that. I thought that Yoko would tell the horrifying news that there mother is dead. Explain what conflicts got resolved, and what issues remain unresolved for the Kawashima family. The conflicts that got resolved is that Yoko met up with Hideyo and Yoko got money for food. The unresolved conflicts are a place to live, shoes, clothes, and there missing father. Why do you think Yoko chose to end the book there? I think that Yoko decided to end the book there because there might be nothing left to talk or write about or maybe he forgot what happened after she met up with Hideyo.
#2 I think they do this because they want us to learn about the Japanese customs. I think they wanted to do this because they have seen how lucky they really are to survive through that and remember all the good and bad things that they went through. I would have tried to be as close as possible to it because other people will learn about it.
#3 The character I admire the most is Hideyo because he survived through alot of things being smart and resourceful. He survived the Korean Communists Army when they attacked the factory that Hideyo was working in. He was even willing to risk everything even his life for just a chance to see his own family again. He was even smart hiding in the tree when the Korean Communist Army was right under him. He was also smart hiding underwater when he was crossing the thirty eighth parallel.
#4 I learned that the Koreans killed who ever refused to join the army and rapes any young woman they found during the war. I learned that they already had atomic bombs back then. I still want to learn how Hideyo's reaction to his mothers death, and Ko's reaction for seeing Hideyo again. I want to learn how Yoko had that bruise or cut on her chest and how that metal piece got in her right ear.
#5 I learned how cruel humans can actually be when I read the novel. I also learned how tough and unfair life can be. Or maybe what an average kid can actually do. For example Yoko. She won an essay contest for 10,000 yen. Any student in my school or at least the students I know that are in my school won't even bother writing a word or 2. I think you should never underestimate anyone even if you know they can't do that. They might not be able to do that, but maybe that person could even do better than you.

OP#4
#1 I think Yoko wants to help Mr.Naido because she wants to get a new pair of shoes. I also think that she wants to help Mr.Naido because she wants to help Mr.Naido how to speak clearly without stuttering. Yoko helps Mr.Naido by giving Mr.Naido cans, and helping him how to speak better. They both sort of are outcasts. Like they have abandoned from the world because of one single incident.
#2 Yoko thought that Ko was doing school work because Ko was late. But when Yoko found Ko shining someones shoes to get something nice for New Years. Yoko saw that Ko was willing to sacrifice so much to get decent meal for New Years.
#3 Why do you think that Ko was willing to sacrifice so much for a decent meal?
My answer: I think she wanted to sacrifice so much because she wanted to have a decent meal because they hadn't had a decent meal in a long time and its a holiday also.

OP#3
#1a. I think that they had to leave immediately because of the Korean Communist Army and that Ko saw a Korean Communist raping a young girl. The family also thinks that its alot safer in Japan.
#1b. I think that they did the right thing by abandoning Hideyo in Korea. So they can stay alive and be safe in Japan. But It is kind of mean. Picturing Hideyo walking all the way to Seoul and finds out that his family left him instead of waiting. But if they stayed and waited they would have been killed by the Koreans and Hideyo will find there bodies slaughtered all over the place. I would have left Hideyo signs of where to go next. But I would have wrote it in Japanese so the Koreans are unable to read it.
#2 Why didn't Hideyo's friends go with him on the way to Seoul?

OP#1
1. Yoko is nice because she gave her rucksack to the new brother and the new born. She is kind of impatient because in the train she coulnd't wait to eat. Until her mom stopped her and explained.
2. Yoko and Ko look they have a strong relationship between them as sisters. Yoko calls Ko bossy because Ko kinds of tells Yoko what to do most of the times. Yoko was starting to hate Ko for going ahead while they were crossing the railroad.
3. The Kawashima family seemed like they felt bad for the patients on the train. So they shared there supplies with the patients on the train. Thats why Ko and Yoko shared their blankets with the patients.

Title: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Author: Rick Riordan
Date: 11-16-07
Total Pages Read: 157 pages
Time: About 3 1/2 hours
Pages: 137-294
Response Question; What does this book make you wonder about? Why?
This book makes me wonder a lot of things. But the thing that this book makes me wonder the most is what will happen next. You might never know what will happen. He might turn evil, or she might save the day. It will always make you wonder. Since this is the first book of the series, anything can happen. So if anything can happen you might never know until you read it. You might be amazed, happy, or sad, who knows. So that is what this book makes me wonder.
So far in the book, Percy Jackson has fought a huge Minotaur, discovered his friend Grover was a satyr, his Latin teacher was a centaur( half man half horse), and there is a huge camp named CAMP HALF-BLOOD for kids that have Greek Gods as their mom or dad. He made a friend named Luke and later on his friend Luke was evil all along and had several attempts to kill Percy Jackson.

I would read another book from this author. I am trying to get the third book and I can't wait till the fourth one comes out. I would read another book from this author because Rick Riordan has a nice storyline and characters. I also like the suspense he makes because you don't really know what will happen next.

Project Reflection
Name: JP Aquino
Project Reflection
Project Title: Family History Project
Class: Humanities Date: 10-17-07
PURPOSE
In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.
In order to learn about Mt. Pinatubo, we had to create a narrative about the event. Then interview a person in your family that experienced the event. Revise a writing entry for a personal narrative. Research about the event on the Internet or from a book. Then site the source from where you got it. Then make it into a scrapbook or a newsletter for the final product.
WHAT I LEARNED
In this section, tell what information or skills you learned or improved.
I learned about Mt. Pinatubo , how it erupted, when it erupted, and how the eruption affected the community in Luzon, Philippines. In this project , I learned how to take good notes so the person you are interviewing doesn't have to repeat anything they said.
REFLECTION
In this section, reflect on your experience. Did you like the project? Why or why not? How did you do? What would you do differently next time?
The part that enjoyed during this project was when we presented our work to the parents. I feel like I could have done better on this project because I think I could have done more and added a few more pictures to my final product. Next time, I would try to have at least more than half a page of information, and at least 4 pictures about the event.
ARTIFACTS
You should have at least one artifact from each project on your DP. What document, picture, or link will you have for this project?
A picture of the ash cloud from Mt. Pinatubo. I would have brought more artifacts but we left it in my grandparents house in the Philippines.

#2 The sentence that stood out to me was " I certainly became more of a leader that then i intended to be" It stands out to me because lots of people can take things too far without noticing. I do that sometimes, mostly when I'm distracted or in a bad mood.

The Wave OP#4
#1 I think that Ben is feeling like The Wave is getting out of hand. Most of the teachers are getting upset and so are the parents. Some students are also taking this way too seriously.
#2 The sentence that stood out o me was " If they're The Wave, we could be The Ripple" I chose this because it sounded funny and it shows how jealous they are of The Wave and how useless they think The Wave is.
#3 If you were in Mr. Ross's class and no one else knows except you and your class, would you tell people about it? Why or why not?

The Wave Op#3
#1 The two clues that I saw is that some kids are actually cutting class so they can go to Ben's class. Most of the school wants to join. Even if they are in a lower grade or higher grade.
#2 The line that jumped out to me the most was "Around the room students jumped to attention beside their desks and gave The Wave salute. Strength through discipline, strength through community, strength through action" I chose this long line because it shows how interested, curious, and dedicated they are to The Wave.
#3 Do you really think that in a couple months no one will even remember about The Wave? "quote form Mrs.Saunders" and Why or Why not?

The Wave#2
#1 The Waves motto "Strength through discipline, Strength through community" spread through school because of the football team. It affected David the most because he thought the football team needs it so their team can finally win a game.
#2 The line that stood out to me was "Maybe you're becoming a guinea pig in your own experiment" That line stood out to me because when it sounds like a joke its really a warning. I can sort of tell because most people I know do that.
#3 Do you think The Wave is effecting the school in anyway?

The Wave OP #1
1.The Wave is in a high school in Palo Alto, California. At 1969.
B.One of the things I saw that make me think it was in 1969 was Ben had to go to the library instead of just using a computer to look it up. They also have typewriters and Amy was smoking without getting caught. If you were smoking you will get caught right away. The difference from our schools and others are that we don't have school bells because the teachers trust we will be there on time. Plus we have these real cool projects.
2.The sentence that jumped out to me was "The team's pretty disorganized" The reason I could relate to that is because when you are disorganized its hard to find things. When you are organized its real easy to find stuff.

Betty Ann
Response #1
The saddest part in the story for me was when they laughed about the Queen of England and the watermelons. Its kind of sad because there laughing at what you wrote. For example you can make a piece of art. It makes the news then you show it to the entire world and the whole world ends up laughing.
Response #2
The point where I would have said something was when the narrator said Margie's life was as exciting as the metric system after she just said her life was as insecure and as homely as the rest of them.
Response #3
I think the moral of the story is you cant fix your mistakes you make in life. So make the right choice while you still can.

Seventh Grade
Response #1
The sentence that stood out to me was "Frenchie oh wewe gee in September" because it was hilarious. It also shows that Victor has not been studying french.
Response #2
The part that really connected to me is kind of the beginning of the school year. It connects to me because in the beginning of the school year you are nervous because you might not like your new teachers or you are wondering if you are in your friends class. Then you live through it, and the next thing you know is school is over.

Test
Response #1
The sentence that really stood out to me was well actually about 2 sentences was "Just before he lost consciousness he heard the scream stop , and he knew then that he had been hearing a single, short lived scream that had only seemed to drag on and on. There came a painless wrench, and then darkness. I chose it because it made me think what happened, what will happen next.
Response #2
There is a little bit of both because its wrong to control people with hypnosis. Its good because we wouldn't want a menace on the road either.I mostly think we shouldn't use hypnosis because it might change your life for ever.
Response #3
I would interpret the phrase "How do any of us know?" because they wanted to play with his head. They dont want him to know about the hypnosis. Since the test has gone wrong they think they might get arrested.

Planet Earth
Today we watched a movie in class called planet earth. It was about plains, grass, tundras, monkeys, snow geese, and other stuff. So we had to take notes. Grass covers about 1/4 of the earth. Elephant grass got its name from being as tall as elephants. There were 6 million bison now its one thousand because hunters were hunting them. Elephants arent good at night because there eyesights arent as good as the lions at night. One full grown elephant can feed a pack of lions for a week. Compared to other wild pigs the Pygmy are the smallest.

The Sea of Monsters
My favorite book is The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. Its about a kid who discovers he has these powers who he inherited from his father, Poisedon. When Thalia's tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters.
